Renthal is a UK-based provider of motorcycle parts and accessories for performance motorcycles, ATVs, and cycles. Since 1975, the company has produced and distributed its high-end line of products worldwide from its headquarters in Manchester. Renthal’s legendary reputation started with the production of its superior handlebars and has since branched out to include bar mounts, grips, chains, brake pads, and more.
A Brief History of Renthal
Renthal’s roots can be traced back to 1969 when Andrew Renshaw and Henry Rosenthal founded the company in the United Kingdom and began manufacturing handlebars for trial bikes. In 1975, the company officially entered the motocross market with the construction of its first factory in Manchester – where the main headquarters still reside to this day.
Renthal experienced steady growth throughout the next couple of decades. But the company witnessed its first significant boom when it decided to enter into the U.S. market in the 90s. Renthal’s motorcycle handlebars became an overnight success, and their reputation in the West continued to blossom. Because of that success, they were able to capitalize on an unfortunate event.
In 2000, the company’s first factory burned to the ground. But in its place, they constructed a brand new, state-of-the-art production plant, complete with its research and development center. As a result, Renthal made a significant leap in innovation and product development.
In 2004, Renthal achieved a record-setting accomplishment as being the first company to be asked to provide handlebars for the original equipment on Japanese-made off-road motorcycles – a feat that has all but cemented Renthal’s legacy.
Since then, the company has branched out into the ATV and cycle markets – both of which have been met with high praise and success from the industry. Renthal’s constant dedication to innovation, performance, and reliability has kept the company in the limelight. And it shows no signs of leaving anytime soon.
Product Quality
Renthal’s crowning achievement and magnum opus have always been its handlebars. The company took over the market in the 90s, and it has been included at the top of the industry ever since. To many riders, it doesn’t get any better than Renthal handlebars.
